“Washington, D.C.- GRAMMY U SoundCheck”
“Aaron Camper and Bridget Kellykicked off the event and were followed by headliner, Dawn Richard. GRAMMY U enjoyed the sweet sounds before being escorting backstage for the Q&A portion of the event. Richard shared that in her Catholic Church in New Orleans, she sang in the gospel choir and was conscious of her raspy voice but learned to embrace its uniqueness and turned it into a strength. She noted that her dream artists to interview were Prince and George Clinton. Prince, because he was able to play every instrument on his projects and his earlier works weren’t understood by many. She also wanted to know what led him “go Pop”. With George Clinton she would ask about his thought process in putting his band together and the ultimate creation of their unique sound.
As the Q&A wrapped, Dawn, Aaron, and Bridget shared a photo opwith the grateful students.
Special thanks to Dawn Richard, Bridget Kelly, Aaron Camper, Briclyn Entertainment and the lovely crew at The Howard Theatre for making this event a success!”
::RECAP:: Dawn, Bridget, and Aaron O My!
“Next to perform was GRAMMY nominated singer/songwriter Aaron Camper. His set was pure greatness and was a mix of songs featured on his latest E.P., Madness, which dropped last year and cover songs like Black Sheep’s “This or That”, Taylor Swifts “Never Getting Back Together” and Boys To Men’s “Water Run Dry“. He had energy and his band kept the pace.”
